, AMERICAN CRAFT BEER’S MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND PICKSOn The Big Screen –   Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, this weekend. This is the fifth installment to Disney’s pirate franchise which has become increasingly bloated and considerably less fun over time. But the filmmakers are citing the first installment of the series, The Curse of the Black Pearl, as inspiration for the script and tone of the film, so we’re hoping it’s a return to form.

Great Alaskan Drinking this Weekend (Haines, AK) –The Great Alaska Craft Beer and Home Brew Festival is taking place weekend (May 27th) and it’s great fun in a spectacular mountainside setting. Held in Dalton City on the Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds in Haines this weekend’s event will feature almost 40 of the region’s most exciting craft brewers, along with live music and artisan eats. Plus the winners of the homebrewing competition are also going to be announced on Saturday!

TV Time & Streaming – The Hulu network is starting to make a name for itself, and their terrific dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale (based on a famous novel by Canadian author Margaret Atwood) is only going to accelerate things. Set in a near-future New England, where a poisoned environment has rendered much of its populace infertile, a totalitarian theocracy that has overthrown the United States government and is forcing its few fertile women to live as concubines. Elizabeth Moss stars as the title character and she may win an Emmy for her compelling performance.
