Head North For Serious Alaskan Beer Drinking (Haines, AK) -With Memorial Day largely considered the “un-official” start of summer and this being a long holiday weekend, it’s time to head north for The Great Alaska Craft Beer and Home Brew Festival which is taking place tomorrow (May 26th). Expect endless live music, delicious Alaskan eats and more brilliant craft beer than any reasonable individual can consume. And yes tickets might already be gone, so you may have to hit the scalpers. But this one’s worth it…trust us!
TV Time & Streaming – In today’s world of almost too much “MUST SEE” television, FX’s stylish, new multilayered 10 episode miniseries that tackles the notorious Getty kidnapping of 1973 is one of the most enjoyable and compelling dramas out there right now. The first three episodes directed by film icon Danny Boyle, Trust stars Donald Sutherland as a ruthless and almost gothic J Paul Getty, the world’s richest man, who lives his life closeted in his Tudor estate with a bevy of mistresses…and is so cheap that he won’t spend more than $600 to free his grandson whose been kidnapped by the Italian mafia. This show’s great…trust us.
On The Big Screen – For those of you still excited about the renewed Star Wars franchise, there’s a new standalone debuting this Memorial Day weekend that’s directed by the great Ron Howard. Solo: A Star Wars Story recounts the adventures of a youthful Han Solo who along with a 196-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca, joins a gang of space smugglers intent on pulling off an intergalactic robbery that, of course, goes bad.
Desert Brews & Blues (Albuquerque, NM) – We showcase music whenever we can as part of our Weekend Picks and we always showcase worthy beer festivals. So it’s cool when the two come together. The 2018 Albuquerque Blues and Brews returns to the Sandia Resort and Casino this Sunday (May 27th) for a seriously fun afternoon of righteous beer and killer music. This year’s outing will feature over 50 of the region’s most dynamic craft breweries, plus all kinds of Southwestern cuisine food and music.
