A Craft Beer Thanksgiving By Dave Stratton
Time to feast and gorge ourselves silly, it’s that festive time of year,
But now you have the daunting task of choosing just the right beers.
Your family and friends will arrive, all expecting some serious brews.
Good thing your that your craft beer instincts, never tend to loose.
You know your family and friends so well…their hopes…and all their fears.
Thanksgiving will run all the better, with just the right craft beers.
You have your traditionalists…Uncle Jeb and Grandpa Milsner.
Your best bet for them is Firestone Walker pilsner.
Aunt Sarah is saucy…with more drama than mind.
And she’ll stop complaining about her ex, after that first AleSmith Barleywine…
Cousin Chet, he’s a vet… who claims to have lost his hand while serving
And his war stories might get more honest, on a Stone Stout aged with bourbon.
Brothers Rick and Tom are always going on about their high-flying careers.
A few Double IPAs will shut them up good, and have them back on their rears.
Great grandma’s stuffing always helps you get your “taste on.”
Especially when paired with a serious Allagash Saison.
The main course is served…with the dishes come more beer pairings.
That’s when you notice Rick’s wife, and where her eyes are starring.
Don’t get distracted…you’re not asking for trouble
Keep your eyes on your IPA (and thank God it’s a double).
Start round two with some pumpkin pie and maybe a gingerbread stout.
You probably should drink some water now, but it’s LA, we’re in a drought!
Great Aunt Millie’s apple crisp is so good it makes you want to shout.
But there’s no need to lose it…just hit that Russian Imperial Stout!
The meal’s finally over…your pairings, all came off without a hitch.
And you smartly took everyone’s keys away…so no one ends up in a ditch.
Your family seems blissfully buzzed…you’re getting raves on the beers
