Love them of hate them, it seems like brewing with fruit has a life of its own nowadays…And we’ve five new “fruit-forward” beers that you might want to check out this weekend.

Sierra Nevada’s New Fruity Upside (Chico, CA) – Sierra Nevada is getting into the fruited IPA game with a recent release which is as close as you’re going to get to announcing that a trend has officially gone mainstream. Sierra Nevada Sidecar is a 5.5% ABV Pale Ale that use orange peel to brighten the beer’s hoppiness rather than to make it taste more like a Kool-Aid infused Shandy.

Raspberry Time (Houston, TX) – Saint Arnold Brewing has taken a proud German tradition and infused it with fresh berries in a recent release. Almost 3000 pounds of fresh raspberries were pumped into the brewery’s flagship Berliner Weisse to produce Saint Arnold Raspberry AF, a 3.6% ABV fruit-forward Berliner Weisse, that’s fruity and tart at the same time.

Something Fruity This Way Comes (Asheville, NC) – Wicked Weed Brewing has returned something fruity that created a HUGE buzz in 2016,  Crisp bright and understandably citrusy in its instincts, Wicked Weed Hop Burglar is a 7% ABV IPA that’s infused with fresh blood orange and grapefruit zest, but never overwhelmed.

Water, Juice or Beer? (Ft Collins, CO) – New Belgium Brewing was one of the first major craft breweries to be “all in” on brewing with fruit and they’ve just returned a popular fruit beer that was a big deal last year. Abundantly brewed with brewed with both watermelon and lime peel, New Belgium Juicy Watermelon Ale is a 5% ABV sweet and sour refresher that’s primed for summer’s coming.

Anchor Blackberry Daze is their “newish” 6.5% ABV blackberry-infused IPA. It’s still out there now – but won’t be forever- so you know what to do!

Blood Relations (San Leandro, CA) – It took a while for 21st Amendment to enter fruit-forward IPA arena…but they wanted to brew something that mattered, so they took their time to get it right. Brew Free or Die Blood Orange IPA is a 7% ABV India Pale Ale fueled on Citra, Mosaic, and Chinook hops, and blood oranges, of course and now available year-round.
