Fall has arrived in all its glory – and we’ve all the right beers for the season. We’ve also some interesting new offerings from Ska and Moustache Brewing that you’ll want to get your sweaty little hands on.
Subatomic Brewing (Riverhead, NY) – Eastern Long Island-based Moustache Brewing just shipped the first beer from their Atomic Series, a collection of Double IPAs brewed to harness the power of new and interesting hops. Named after the subatomic particle so critical to the fission process, Proton Double India Pale Ale is a positively charged 8.5% ABV exercise in serious brewing that’s recklessly fueled on Azacca, Simcoe and Lemondrop hops.
Get Raunchy (Chicago, IL) – The Dovetail Brewery has a new tap-only fall offering with roots that go back to Bamberg, Germany and a history that date back to the 1500’s. Dovetail Rauchweizen is a robust and assertive Smoked Wheat Beer that’s perfect for colder days and windy cities.
PB & Porter (Lincoln, NE) – Empyrean Brewing has sandwiched in a new addition to their year-round lineup that definitely gets it done. With its twisting layers of chocolate, peanut butter and toast, Long Route Peanut Butter Porter is a 6% refresher that refuses to take any expedient brewing shortcuts.
Spicy/Fruity/Earthy (Seattle, WA) – Elysian is shipping a new limited release that was first brewed in 2003 at Elysian’s Capitol Hill brewpub. Relatively light for a Farmhouse Saison and perfectly blended with German Northern Brewer and Czech Saaz hops, Elysian Saison Elysee is a 6.4% “Ode to Old Belgium” that is said to be “spicy, earthy, and, fruity all at once,” assuming Head Brewer Josh Waldman can be trusted.
Enhanced Drinking (San Diego, CA) – Ballast Point will soon rolling out a new addition to their ‘enhanced’ lineup – you know those core beers with extra ingredients like grapefruit or Thai chili added. Ballast Point Mocha Marlin is the brewery’s 6% Black Marlin Porter that’s infused with roasty coffee and cocoa tones for an enriched drinking experience.
