5 Enormous Summer “Buzz” Beers

Beer, 5 Enormous Summer “Buzz” Beers

Summer’s “dog days” have finally arrived but that doesn’t mean that every brewery is playing it safe and only cranking out session IPAs. And we’ve five new HUGE high octane limited releases that people are buzzing about.

Atrial Rubicite Returns (Austin, TX) – This Friday at 4pm, Jester King will be returning a popular favorite that takes tart tones and fresh fruit seriously. Jester King 2017 Atrial Rubicite is a 5.2% blended Sour Ale that was refermented with raspberries and barrel-aged to ridiculous perfection. This year’s version was bottled on June 12th and of course it’s unfiltered, unpasteurized, and 100% naturally conditioned.

Paint It Framblanc (Portland, OR) – Cascade Brewing is returning the 2016 version of an award-winning beer – (the 2015 was awarded the Gold Medal at the Oregon Beer Awards). Overflowing with lush flavors of raspberries, green grapes, white peaches and pears, Framblanc 2016 is a 7.6% ABV blend of sour blond ales that were aged for up to 14 months in oak wine barrels with 3,500 pounds of fresh white raspberries. How’s that sound?

Schlafly Doubles Down On Hops (St Louis, MO) – Schlafly Beer is releasing the latest addition Hop Allocation Series a program committed to pushing hop possibilities as far as they can without getting arrested. Formerly only a brewpub offering, Schlafly Double IPA is a 10% ABV India Pale Ale that was brewed using unreasonable amounts of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. You’ve been warned.

Peanut Powered (Boulder, CO) – Avery Brewing recently released a new nut-forward addition their Barrel-Aged Series, and like all of the beer’s we included today it’s unapologetically enormous. Avery’s Nuttiest Professor is 15.2% ABV Barrel-aged Imperial Stout that was brewed with peanuts, a process that due to the nut’s inherent oil content, can be difficult to pull off.

Beer, 5 Enormous Summer “Buzz” BeersFarking Insane! (Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing is returning the 2017 version of a special release that we think might own the title of craft beer’s longest beer name. Drew Curtis / Wil Wheaton / Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout (right?) is an annual pop-cultural beer collaboration made up of Stone’s Greg Koch, Fark.com founder Drew Curtis, and actor/web Wil Wheaton. This year’s version is a 13% ABV MONSTER Imperial that’s flush with complex dark cocoa, coffee and nut tones and primed for immediate infusion or cellaring – whatever you want to do.
