3 Ridiculous Beers From The Bruery And Dogfish Head

Bruery, 3 Ridiculous Beers From The Bruery And Dogfish Head

On Friday The Bruery announced what had been long rumored…that it was releasing a series of “ridiculous” beer collaborations which they did with Milton, Delaware’s Dogfish Head Craft Brewery.

The bi-costal alliance itself is not all that surprising. The Bruery’s Patrick Rue and Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione are friends. It’s common to see the two of them hanging together at beer industry events like SAVOR. And they share similar brewing philosophies when it comes to pushing the envelope as well as a mutual interest in beer-wine hybrids…

Which brings us to the three ridiculous beers that they are releasing under The Bruery banner.

This is Ridiculous is a Brettanomyces-forward, 8.8% ABV Saison Ale, that was dry-hopped with Mosaic and aged in a French oak foeder for seven months.

This is Mrs. Ridiculous is a 7.1% ABV mixed culture Sour Ale that was crafted with under-ripe Pinot Noir grapes, and aged in a French Oak foeder for seven months.

Kisses Betwixt Mr. and Mrs. This is Ridiculous is a tart and funky mixed culture Saison Ale, made by blending Mr. and Mrs. This Is Ridiculous and aged in a French oak foeder for seven months.

The beer names and label artwork were created by Calagione…

“Both Dogfish and The Bruery take the art of brewing creative beers seriously— but we don’t take ourselves too seriously— and I wanted the packaging and name to reflect that. The labels were hand-applied to each bottle by the team at The Bruery Terreux, adding to the unique nature of the collaboration.”

This series of beers was brewed at The Bruery Terreux with Dogfish Head’s Brewmaster, Mark Safarik, and Brewing Supervisor, Bill Marchi, leaders of the brewery’s wild beer and barrel-aging program,” stated Rue. “These guys worked with Sam and us to conceive these recipes and bring them to life with a lot of fun, humor, and passion for brewing wild beers.”

The teams will meet again later this summer to brew Dogfish Head’s off-centered iterations of each of the three beers, all of which will be released in 2020.

All three ridiculous beers are available online in 750mL bottles at the TheBruery.com for Society members only…
